MELINS PHYSICS

The Physics program offers studies in metrology, electronics, and instrumentation. (MELINS). Physics plays an important role in providing a basis for the development of world technology. It is closely related to meterology, electronics and instrumentation. Metrology discusses knowledge and science relating to calibration, scanning, or gauging in industrial process, as well as in the development of science and technology. Electronics provides a platform for a variety of technologies such as digital technology, telecommunication and information technology whereas Instrumentation serves to integrate different types of technologies ranging from technologies used in households, health areas, farming to those supporting airplane and outer space shuttles.

Vision

In 2030 it became a leading Physics study program in responding to global challenges in the fields of physics in Metrology, Electronic Materials and Instrumentation (MELINS) in line with Islamic values.

Mision

  1. Organizing academic programs that lead to professionalism in the field of Physics MELINS for the development of science and technology.
  2. Organizing quality, innovative research programs that lead to commercialization and contribute to national interests.
  3. Organizing appropriate community service programs and contributing to national interests.
  4. Improve the competence of human resources in specialization in their fields.
  5. Building and developing strategic cooperation to strengthen the quality of the tri dharma of higher education.
  6. Improve and maintain the continuity of a conducive and Islamic academic atmosphere.

Aim

  1. Produce graduates who master and are able to apply the field of physics for technological development, creative, innovative, adaptive, and entrepreneurial as well as Islamic characters.
  2. Produce the right scientific and technological work that is national and international.
  3. Produce institutional models that are professional and strong in capacity to innovate, as agents of economic development (agent of economic development).

Graduates Prospects

Graduates of physics studies can work as lecturers, in Metrology Center, as quality control staff in charge of industrial instrumentation and calibration, as experts in eloctronics devices and industrial application, health instrumentation devices, as researchers in either government or non government research centers

Competencies

Graduates understand basic concepts of physics and its application, demonstrate working knowledge of metrology, instrumentation and calibration, have the ability to design and develop electronic-based instrumentation and acquire basic knowledge and skills in  programming for instrumentation and control. Graduates are expected to have strong adherence to Islamic values, possess good communication skills and demonstrate leadership and managerial skills, entrepreneurship spirit and ability to work in a team

Teaching staff

The teaching staff consists of one professor, three lecturers with doctoral qualifications and four lecturers with master degrees from both domestic and oversea universities such as UGM, UAD, ITB, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and University of Essex ( England). A number of research findings produced by the teaching staff have been patented and published in international journals.

Supporting Facilities

The teaching learning process is supported by a range of facilities such as comfortable classroom with fitted LCD and audio visual, Calibration and Testing Laboratory, Metrology Lab, Material Physics Laboratory, Electronics and Instrumentation Laboratory, Audio Visual Optics Detection Laboratory, digital library, mosque, canteen, parking lots, sports arena, and free Wi-fi
