PUBLIC HEALTH SCIENCE STUDY PROGRAM



The Public Health Science program is aimed at producing public health experts who have strong understanding of different aspects of public health and will play a pivotal role in promoting wellness and improving the overall quality of life for all people. This program consists of 4 streams namely hospital management, reproductive health, epidemiology and tropical diseases, environmental and work health. Students successfully completing the program are awarded an academic degree Sarjana Kesehatan Masyarakat (SK)

The study program is competitive, has a global perspective and is based on Islamic values, oriented towards a healthy city.

Mision

  1. Producing academics who have hard skills and soft skills, play an active role in research and community service.
  2. Produce graduates who actively participate in national and international scientific activities, are adaptive and responsive to public health issues globally.
  3. Organizing education, research and community health services based on Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan.

Prospek LulusanGraduates Prospects

Government civil services under Ministry of Health, KKP, Health Department, Community Health Center, employement in industries/ mining and oil industries, and hospitals.

Competencies

Graduates of this program are expected to have acquired and developed competencies based on their chosen streams as follows:

1. Hospital management

Graduates acquire managerial knowledge and skills in hospital management to improve efficiency, enhance quality and increase productivity as well as show the ability to make a sound decision pertaining to hospital policies.

2. Reproductive health

Graduates have strong understanding of different aspects and problems associated with reproductive health and have working knowledge and skills in the area of productive health so that they are capable of delivering high quality programs and services to overcome health problems experienced by mothers and children.

3. Epidemiology and tropical diseases

Graduates of this program are expected to be able to work independently and professionally in providing data and information required for decision making to seek solutions to public health problems

4. Environmental and Work Health

Graduates of this programs have expertise in environmental and work health to allow for their contribution to the protection of workers with regard to their work environment. They also have the ability to identify problems, collect data, make a decision and formulate policies relating to health issues at work.

Lecturers

There are 25 lecturers with doctoral qualifications, and 20 lecturers with Master degrees, graduating from both domestic and oversea universities, as well as some health practitioners. T he lecturers are also specialist in epidemiology and tropical disease science, entomology, biostatistics, health financing policy, environmental health, waste management, work health and safety, Environment-based vector control, Environmental quality analysis, Health service quality management, health policy, hospital management, public health nutrition, reproductive health, health information system, geographic information system.

Supporting facilities

In –class learning is supported by a range of learning facilities and technology such as LCD projector, comfortable classrooms, on-line student services and wi-fi area. Students practicum is also supported with computer lab, parasitology, basic biology, entomology, and field laboratory. The field laboratory is a joint-cooperation between FKM UAD and other institutions such as Balai Hyperkes, Bapelkes Semarang, RS PKU Muhammadiyah Kota Yogya, RS PKU Muhammadiyah Kabupaten Bantul, RSUD Grhasia Yogyakarta, Balai Vektor Salatiga.
