BIOLOGY EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM



Biology Education Study Program conducts creative and innovative teaching and learning process based on research and technology to create qualified human resources who master skills in biology science and education, also have Islamic basis through academic and non-academic activities. This program creates the research that supports educational and instructional development. It also gives expertise service to the society and related institutes in the development of biology science and education based on technology. The graduates hold Bachelor of Education (S.Pd.)

Vision

In 2030, the Biology Education Study Program excels in contextual learning, global insight, and imbued with Islamic values.

Mision

  1. Organizing superior education and learning that is contextually based in the Biology and scientific fields of Biology.
  2. Conducting research in the fields of education and science in Biology.
  3. Organizing community service in the field of education and science in Biology.
  4. Develop a network of cooperation in the field of education and Biology with related institutions at national and international levels.
  5. Applying Islamic values to every activity carried out by the Biology Education academic community.

Competence

General Competence of Biology Education Graduates:

  1. The graduates can use the science and technology in their field and adapt to any situations in solving the problem
  2. The graduates master the theoretical concept in the specific science generally, master theoretical concept specifically in that science deeply, and can formulate procedural problem solving.
  3. The graduates can make strategic decision based on information and data analysis, give instruction in selecting various alternative solutions.
  4. The graduates are responsible for their jobs and can be given responsibility of organization work achievement.

Specific competence of Biology Education Gradutes:

  1. The graduates can use relevant science and technology in the scope of Biology Education to design, manage, implement, evaluate and develop the instruction based on educational science on Biology concepts oriented to life skills.
  2. The graduates can use various Biology learning resources and media to support the curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular program.
  3. The graduates can master Biology concept, principal, law, and theory.
  4. The graduates can master Biology theory and strategy principal, model, approach, method, and learning media.
  5. The graduates can master Biology lesson plan principal, management and skills, in implementing evaluation and development of Biology instruction.
  6. The graduates can identify learning problem and solve it through scientific method in the Biology education.
  7. The graduates can make strategic decision based on information and data analysis in the Biology education that can be used to give alternative problem solving in the Biology education
  8. The graduates have independence and responsibility in doing the duties including planning, implementing, evaluating, and reflecting as Biology educators and parts of organization.

Lecturers

The lecturer competence includes some fields such as zoology, botany, education, ecology, genetics, and bio-technology. The minimum academic qualification for lecturers is master qualification for undergraduate education according to the field.

Supporting Facilities

The lecture is supported by some facilities such as classroom with LCD and audio visual, library, mosque, canteen, parking area, and WIFI area. There are also Biology material development laboratory equipped with study program laboratory. Besides, Biology education has lab schools such as SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Depok, Muhammadiyah Boarding School, and SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Depok. These lab schools function as the location for student internship, community service for the lecturers, and mutual cooperation.

Student Achievement

Some student achievements are:

  1. The runner up of Mathematics and Natural Science National Olympiad in 2015, got by Muhammad Abdul Aziz
  2. The winner of Essay Competition in 2015 at Universitas Negeri Semarang, got by Jumi Suprihati
  3. The winner of Student Creativity Program – Written Idea held by coordinator of private higher educations Yogyakarta in 2015, got by Dhynie Soesilo Wahyudi, and friends
  4. The winner of learning media at UNY in 2015, got by Marni
