Lulusan SMK Masih Tertatih-tatih dalam Memenuhi Kebutuhan Pasar Tenaga Kerja

“Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pasar tenaga kerja sekarang, lulusan Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) kita masih tertatih-tatih,” ujar Direktur Pembinaan SMK Kemendikbud, Drs. H.M.

(dok)

The Policy to Replace Minister of Education Post and Its Future

The condition and situation of The United State of Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), which is marked by political issues, result in replacement of some ministers or cabinet reshuffle including the replacement of minister of education.

According to H. Muhammad Joko Susilo, M.Pd. there has been issues in society that ‘school’ has become guinea pig. Education is not developed but an object of minister’s policy. Amidst the fact, there is also a hope that formal education is still promising said him in a talk show of UAD’s educational experts with the topic Reshuffle of Minister of Education on Jlz 89,5 Radio FM last Friday (12/08/2016).

Considering the educational law no 20 Year 2005, chapter I article 1 which says that education is intentionally planned effort to create learning atmosphere and the process of instruction to develop the learners’ potentials actively in mastering spiritual and religious capacity, good morals and necessary skills for themselves, their society, nation, and state.

According to Joko Susilo, we have to create learning atmospheres, and good instructions. Learning atmospheres can be achieved through good environments (family, school, society)

Menurut Joko Susilo, yang harus dibangun dalam pendidikan adalah suasana belajar, proses pembelajaran, which make it possible for the learners to develop their self-esteem. While the good instruction is related to the teachers, school equipment for the process.

‘Everything should be considered and carefully planned to produce effective educational policy to solve the problem. The change of educational post should be considered positively,’ said the head of Biology Education of Faculty of Teachers’ Training and Education University of Ahmad Dahlan (UAD).

The lecturer, who is also a consultant of school development, added that new ideas are not meant to present problems neither to consider priority scale only but they should be seen carefully from different aspects.

For him cabinet reshuffle is not a problem but it presents hopes for betterment. And it is a part of human effort to improve himself, his social life, and carry out his task as khalifah  or representation of Allah on the earth.(Dok)

Lack of Implementation of the Community Empowerment Concept

The result of 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) program in Yogyakarta showed that community empowerment in waste management had not imposed the principles of public health. It could be seen from several factors, including a program launched by the Environment Agency of Yogyakarta that only the technical waste management.

“The launched program had had public health insight because there is no attention to that insight” said  Surahma Asti Mulasari, the lecturer of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) who took apart in the research of Yogyakarta waste emergency.

Based on her opinion, lack of realization of public health based waste management in Yogyakarta was caused by minimum inter-sectoral coordination system, lack of disease documentation caused by household waste management, lack of idea about public health based waste management, there is no urgent things that urges the policy of public health based waste management.

“Some concepts offered to overcome the weaknesses of the 3R program that already exist in the society today are the use of personal protective equipment (APD), hygienic and healthy behavior by washing hands before and after processing waste, placing composting tub (or garbage sorter tool) in the right place at outdoor and far from children and animals”. She said.

Furthermore, the lecturer of public health faculty said that if the concepts of public health were not immediately implemented, it will be dangerous and risky for communities empowered in the 3R program. The dangers that may arise were convenience disruption in the neighborhood, infectious diseases due to garbage (dengue, respiratory infections, diarrhea, intestinal worms, eye, and skin irritation), declining productivity due to illness, and cost to cope with environmental pollution. Estimated cost for the environmental costs of waste reaches Rp3.000.014,00 per family.

Recommendation for waste management in Yogyakarta

The recommendations given to the government as the holder of the waste management policy in Yogyakarta were the optimization of all relevant agencies that have a waste management program, cross-sectoral cooperation, and support policies to accommodate urban waste management.

Meanwhile, a recommendation for the people in Yogyakarta was starting the program of 3R in each neighborhood. It was not merely for economic improvement, but more emphasis on the concept of environmental preservation. For starters, do the simple waste management. We should pay attention to the protection of family health and the environment while managing waste in the neighborhood by the using personal protective equipment (APD), doing hygienic and healthy behavior by washing hands before and after processing waste, placing composting tub (or garbage sorter tool) in the right place at outdoor and far from children and animals.

Perkiraan kerugian lingkungan akibat sampah mencapai Rp3.000.014,00 per keluarga.

Rekomendasi Pengelolaan Sampah Kota Yogyakarta

By: Muhammad Hidayat, S.Psi., M.Psi., Psikolog.

Clinic for Community Empowerment (CCE) Psychology Faculty of UAD

Since the game of Pokémon Go was released, it had become the trending topic in all levels of society starting from children, teenager and adult. They discussed about Pokémon Go. Some sources said that the downloaders number of the software application for this game reached more than ten millions. Took for example in America, there were more than seven millions of people downloaded this application. This kind of phenomenon was also happened in Indonesia some days ago.

Many people competed to post information about Pokémon Go through social media. Some of them shared negative news like traffic jam caused by Pokémon Go, how people plunged into a river, and accident. Because of these, some policy makers in certain institutions called on people not to play the game of Pokémon Go. Some TV stations also invited some interdisciplinary experts to discuss about the effects of Pokémon Go in their programs.

Rutledge (2016) said that the main factor of the success of the game was the combination between real and virtual world. Pokémon Go combined the experience of playing game with the real physical activity and encouraged people to interact with others. Furthermore, Pokémon Go was also occupied with some elements that were close to the real human behavior involving needs of interaction with others, need of exploring the environment, need of being capable and skillful.

From that phenomenon, there were many opinions coming up in relation to the negative and positive effects of Pokémon Go.  This phenomenon also encouraged the team of Clinic for Community Empowerment, Psychology Faculty of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) to have responsive action by doing mini research of psychological study of Pokémon Go game. This responsive action had been carried out from July to early August 2016. The result of this action was the comparison between positive and negative effects of Pokémon Go game, the result was in the following table.

Table of positive and negative effects of Pokémon Go game

Positive effects

Dampak negatif

  1. Deriving Pleasure. The users of Pokémon GO said that they got pleasure from this game. Most of them also said that the game could entertain and relieve sad.
  2. Encouraging the players to get out and move. This game requires the users to go out door and walk to hunt Pokémon. Mechanically, it will improve physical activity so that human body and physical condition more dynamic.
  3. Training to Achieve Target.  The structure and vivid level improvement of the game make the game interesting so that users are motivated to achieve the target.
  4. Improving Imagination and Creativity. One of the advantages of playing game is sharpening imagination and creativity. The game will stimulate users’ brain to think imaginatively and creatively.
  1. Game Addiction. This game enables users to be addicted. Consequently, users are eager to fulfil their ambition and ignoring of other things.
  1. Although encouraging people to move, this game makes people focus only on the screen. Users tend to be careless with their selves and environment. It is because users only focus on their phone screen. It also causes negative effects like traffic jam and accident.
  2. Social loafing. Users interaction in this game is not real. Consequently, it makes people reluctant to have real interaction with their environment by spending most of their time with their phone.
  3. Self-control decrease. Addicted users tend to perform a variety of ways to fulfil their ambition. They tend to be careless with rules and environment as long as they can fulfil their ambition. This will make people to be unproductive and lack of self-control.
  4. Being burdened. Technical way playing this game is to find and capture something so that users will be kept on standby. The adrenaline tends to rise which makes the physical state not relax. It makes the heart beating faster than usual.
  5. The users tend to have difficulty in differentiating the real world and fantasy.  This game combines real and virtual elements. When it is continuously played, addicted users will be hard to discern between realism and imagination. It is certainly bad for the physical and psychological condition of users.

From the description above, it can be concluded that the Pokémon GO game gives more negative effects than positive effects. Therefore, government and society are expected to be wise in responding to this phenomenon. Parents are also expected to have more time accompanying their children so that their children can be far for being addicted.
