Kepercayaan, Mahasiswa, dan Tradisi Juara UAD

Meningkatnya minat calon mahasiswa Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) menandakan semakin tingginya kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah ini. Pernyataan tersebut disampaikan Rektor UAD, Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum., dalam pidato laporan tahunan rektor 2017 yang dilangsungkan Sabtu (30/12/2017) di auditorium kampus 1 UAD, Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta.

 

“Sebagai bentuk timbal balik tersebut, UAD terus berupaya meningkatkan pelayanan akademik yang baik bagi mahasiswa, yang dilakukan oleh dosen dalam proses pembelajaran dan pelayanan administrasi yang nyaman oleh tenaga kependidikan,” terang Kasiyarno.

 

Untuk menjamin kualitas proses pembelajaran, salah satu upaya yang dilakukan dengan memberikan pembinaan prakuliah. Pembinaan dimulai sejak calon mahasiswa dinyatakan lulus masuk UAD. Mereka dibekali pelatihan teknologi informasi (IT), bahasa Inggris, soft skill, dan kewirausahaan.

 

Upaya lain untuk menghasilkan lulusan berkualitas melalui penyediaan kurikulum yang sesuai kebutuhan masyarakat, pengembangan metode pengajaran active learning, penyediaan sarana prasarana yang memadahi, layanan berbasis IT, dan dosen yang berkualitas.

Selama tiga tahun terakhir, UAD telah meluluskan 8.251 mahasiswa dengan 29% di antaranya berpredikat cum laude. Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) dari tahun ke tahun terus meningkat. Tahun 2015 3,27, pada 2016 meningkat menjadi 3,31, dan 2017 mengalami peningkatan menjadi 3,38.

“Kesuksesan lulusan UAD tidak hanya ditentukan oleh kemampuan akademik semata, melainkan juga kemampuan atau keterampilan non-akademik. Untuk membekali keterampilan tersebut maka pembinaan kemahasiswaan dilaksanakan dalam 5 kategori, yaitu penalaran, minat dan bakat, keorganisasian, kesejahteraan, serta kekaderan.”

 

 

Tradisi Juara

Sampai saat ini, UAD dapat mempertahankan tradisi juara, antara lain selalu masuk dalam 3 besar Mahasiswa Berprestasi (Mawapres) tingkat Kopertis Wilayah V dari tahun 2002 sampai 2017, dan finalis atau juara pada ajang Mawapres tingkat nasional. Tradisi juara juga ditunjukkan dalam bidang Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) serta National University Debating Contest (NUDC).

Pembinaan mahasiswa dalam bidang minat dan bakat diimplementasikan dalam bentuk penyediaan unit kegiatan mahasiswa (UKM) dan komunitas-komunitas kegiatan dan organisasi otonom (Ortom) Muhammadiyah. Pada 2017 ini jumlah UKM sebanyak 16 unit, organisasi kemahasiswaan dalam bentuk komunitas 12 unit, sedangkan organisasi otonom Muhammadiyah 3 unit.

“Salah satu kegiatan besar yang berhasil dilaksanakan mahasiswa dari UKM Madapala yakni Operasi Katarak bagi Lansia. Kegiatan bakti sosial ini bekerja sama dengan Yayasan DHARMAIS dan PERDAMI Yogyakarta  pada 23 April 2017 di RS UAD dan berhasil mengoperasi sekitar 70 lansia. Kemudian ada pentas Teater Jaringan Anak Bahasa (JAB) di kota Surabaya dan Purwokerto.”

Di kancah internasional, Ika Suciwati, mahasiswa UAD, memperoleh 3 penghargaan. Best Paper pada ASEAN Youth Cultural Exposure 2017 di Thailand, Best Idea, serta Best Team pada ASEAN International Summit 2017 di Malaysia.

 

“Prestasi lain yang tak kalah membanggakan mahasiswa Program Studi Profesi Apoteker (PSPA), Liliyani Fatonah, meraih nilai tertinggi nasional dalam UKAI (Uji Kompetensi Apoteker Indonesia) dengan angka 84. Nilai ini jauh di atas standar nilai UKAI yaitu 46,21,” jelas Kasiyarno.

 

Setelah mendapat akreditasi A dari Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT), UAD terus berbenah. Utamanya dalam meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia dosen maupun mahasiswa. Peningkatan ini bertujuan untuk memaksimalkan potensi dan memertahankan tradisi juara agar UAD semakin dikenal di kancah nasional maupun internasional. (doc/ard)

Menkes RI Ajak UAD Senam Seminggu Sekali

“Kami mengapresiasi dan berterima kasih kepada Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) yang telah mendukung program pemerintah dengan mendaftarkan seluruh karyawannya ke BPJS. UAD juga telah memiliki beberapa fakultas yang berafiliasi dengan kesehatan. Tetapi, bagaimana dengan kesehatan dosen dan mahasiswanya?”

 

Pertanyaan menggelitik ini disampaikan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia, Prof. Dr. dr. Nila Farid Moeloek, Sp.M. (K)., dalam acara pidato tahunan rektor UAD yang diselenggarakan Sabtu (30/12/2017) di auditorium kampus 1 UAD, Jln. Kapas 9, Semaki, Yogyakarta.

Menurutnya, kesehatan adalah tanggung jawab bersama. Ia menegaskan harus ada konsep paradigma sehat di masyarakat agar kesehatan menjadi sebuah kebudayaan. Pada orasi ilmiahnya, Nila juga mengajak semua elemen untuk sadar terhadap pentingya pola hidup sehat.

 

“Saya yakin, dosen dan karyawan UAD jarang olahraga karena banyak kerjaan. Gini deh, sakit kan bikin susah, coba seminggu sekali senam. Minimal 4 menit, mau maumere atau senam lainnya boleh, asal gerak. Kalau perlu, Pak Rektor setop dulu kerja dan kuliahnya,” kelakar Menteri Kesehatan ini.

Ia juga berpesan, sebagai salah agen perubahan, mahasiswa harus turut berpartisipasi mengedukasi masyarakat dengan pengetahuan mengenai sistem kesehatan yang ada. (ard)

Jurnal Internasional IJAIN UAD Terakreditasi A Kemenristek Dikti

“Alhamdulillah, kami sampaikan bahwa International Journal of Advances in Intelligent Informatics (IJAIN) telah mencapai prestasi besar lainnya. Capain membanggakan kali ini adalah perolehan akreditasi A https://ristekdikti.go.id/ oleh Menteri Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi Republik Indonesia, melalui Surat Keputusan No. 48a / E / KPT / 2017, 30 Oktober 2017 di usianya yang belum genap 3 tahun (pertama terbit Maret 2015-red).  Perolehan ini rasanya tidak mungkin, tanpa partisipasi dari banyak pihak, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), para editor, reviewer, dan kerja sama para penulis untuk menyajikan paper-paper IJAIN yang berkualitas di http://ijain.org,” ungkap Andri Pranolo, inisiator dan managing editor IJAIN, saat disambangi reporter fakultas di tengah-tengah kesibukannya.

IJAIN yang diterbitkan oleh salah satu Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah adalah peer review open access journal, yang fokus pada minat kecerdasan buatan dalam bidang informatika yang mencakup 4 bidang penelitian utama seperti Machine Learning dan Soft Computing, Data Mining & Big Data Analytics, Computer Vision & Pattern Recognition, dan Automated Reasoning. IJAIN hanya menerima makalah dalam bahasa Inggris sejak awal diterbitkan pada Maret 2015 serta melakukan peer-reviewed dan editing yang cukup ketat sebelum makalah tersebut diterbitkan.

Sebelum memperoleh akreditasi, capaian sebelumnya, IJAIN juga telah deindex atau dapat diakses di pengindeks internasional seperti EBSCOhost, Microsoft Academic Search, Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ), ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), Worldcat, serta pengindeks nasional seperti Indonesian Publication Index (IPI), Indonesian Scientific Journal Database (ISJD), dan Indonesia One Search.

“Semoga semakin banyak yang mengindeks, maka diseminasi makalah yang diterbitkan di IJAIN akan lebih bermanfaat dan diakses lebih luas, karena target kami ke depan adalah IJAIN dapat terindeks oleh pengindeks bereputasi internasional lainnya seperti SCOPUS dan Web of Science,” ungkap Andri Pranolo, S.Kom., M.Cs. (Chief IJAIN).

Selain itu, ketika akses ke DOAJ, IJAIN adalah jurnal pertama dan satu-satunya jurnal di Indonesia yang mendapatkan green tick dan DOAJ seal. Dengan demikian, sesuai peraturan yang ada, IJAIN dapat dikategorikan sebagai Jurnal Internasional Bereputasi, apabila digunakan untuk kenaikan pangkat, mailto:ijain@uad.ac.id memungkinkan perolahan poin maksimal 40 angka kredit bagi dosen yang mengurus kenaikan jabatan akademik.

UAD Suguhkan Pelayanan Prima untuk Calon Mahasiswa Baru

Setiap tahun, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) selalu memberikan pelayanan yang baik kepada calon mahasiswa UAD. Pelayanan ditunjukkan dengan memberikan informasi yang dibutuhkan oleh calon mahasiswa yang akan mendaftar. Mereka akan diberi jawaban atas kebingungan mencari informasi.

“Tahun ini, UAD tidak akan meninggalkan tradisi tersebut. Bahkan akan semakin ditingkatkan dengan pelayanan prima yaitu senyum, salam, sapa, sopan, santun, sabar, dan semangat,” kata Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. di hadapan student employment (SE) Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru (PMB) saat membuka PMB 2018 di hall kampus 1 Selasa, (2/1/2018).

Selain memberikan pelayanan yang baik saat penerimaan mahasiswa baru, rektor juga mengimbau kepada civitas UAD untuk memberikan pelayanan yang baik saat mahasiswa sudah masuk dan menjadi mahasiswa di UAD.

Ada 30 SE yang akan melayani PMB UAD 2018 ini. “Mereka sudah dilatih untuk menyambut mahasiswa baru. SE sudah melalui seleksi dari beberapa ratus mahasiswa yang mendaftar. Mereka yang terseleksi dibekali dengan pelatihan, seperti skill berbicara, mengenal UAD, bahkan mereka juga dilatih atau diwajibkan membaca al-Qur’an.

Selain di kampus 1, pendaftaran PMB juga direncanakan dibuka di kampus 4. Sementara ini, UAD mempunyai 6 kampus, kampus 1 Jl. Kapas 9, Semaki, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta 55166. Kampus 2 Jl. Pramuka 42, Sidikan, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta 55161. Kampus 3 Jl. Prof. Dr. Soepomo, S.H., Janturan, Warungboto, Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta 55164. Kampus 4 Jl. Ringroad Selatan, Yogyakarta. Kampus 5 Jln. Ki Ageng Pemanahan 19, Yogyakarta, dan kampus 6 UAD Wates, Wates, Kulon Progo Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

UAD sudah terakreditasi institusi A, serta sebanyak 38% akreditasi program studi yang ada sudah A, 62% lainnya terakreditasi B.

An UAD Lecturer is Trusted as the Chairman of JCI Yogyakarta

Hari Hariadi, S.P., M.Sc., a lecturer of Food Technology study program of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) Yogyakarta is trusted to be the Chairman of International Junior Chamber (JCI) Indonesia of Yogyakarta region for 2018. The handover of the position was held at Fave Hotel on Thursday (21/12/2017).

In this event, there was also a seminar entitled "The Role of Young Generation in Welcoming Golden Indonesia 2045" with Prof. Dr. Sri Adiningsih, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Chairman of the President Advisory Council of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) as the speaker.

JCI is a federation of young professionals and entrepreneurs aged between 18-40 years. This international youth association has over 400,000 thousand additional members per year, spreading across 127 countries and territories. Joko Widodo, the President of RI was also once registered as the member of JCI.

The event was attended by leaders and representatives of university students from Yogyakarta, the Mayor and Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X who was represented by Edi Wahyudi from DIY Youth and Sports Association.

In the opening speech by Sultan, it was explained that youth must contribute to the progress of the nation and make Indonesia a more powerful country, because, in its history, youth always occupied a strategic role in Indonesia.

As the bearer of the country, youth must take part in both national and international events, especially in cultural advancement and economic independence. The young generation must be self-reliant, innovative, creative, and initiative to help strengthen the Indonesian economy to face of global market challenges.

 Meanwhile, Hari, after being inaugurated, expected JCI to synergize with all elements of the society to realize Indonesia golden generation 2045. "I have been a member of JCI for about 10 years. I have learned many things, especially on how to build relationships with the global community. The Indonesian International Youth Association of Yogyakarta must continue to move. It is time to strengthen sociopreneurs to build the environment and the surrounding society," he said. (ard)

UAD Anniversary as a Student Talent Hunting Event

"Students who won the Amazing Orange 2017 competition must continue to develop their abilities," said Heru Astar, the Head of the Student Council (BEM) for the period of 2017/2018 in his opening speech at the closing ceremony of the 57th Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) anniversary.

This competition which was organized by the Student Council had a goal to find talented UAD students. In addition, the winners would be given facilities to improve their ability to make achievements at regional, national, and international level events.

The closing ceremony which was held in the green hall of Campus 4 on Friday (22/12/2017) was attended by Vice Rector 3, Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T., the Head of Student Affairs department and an alumnus of Bimawa, Drs. Hendro Setyono, S.E., M.Sc., BEM representatives from DIY, UAD students, and surrounding communities. Dhyo Haw and Jikustik were invited as the guest stars.

Meanwhile, Abdul Fadlil expressed his appreciation for the performance of the student council which is always increasing every year. "The anniversary events are meant to explore the potential of the students in various fields as well as to mold new UAD representatives who are able to record new achievements."

He added that UAD is very supportive of the Amazing Orange event. This kind of activity can maintain or even increase UAD achievements. UAD keeps advancing and developing because of the student achievements.

"Through this activity, it is expected that students can be given support to optimally develop their skills in organizational field. Student leadership talent will be properly trained. Therefore, this nation will not be lacking of future leaders," said Fadlil. (ard)

Jabal Rahmah and Sarasehan Literary Encounter at UAD

Jabal Rahmah, a book containing notes and events about literary encounter at IKIP Muhammadiyah-Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) Yogyakarta, has been officially launched. The launch of this book is a form of appreciation and reminiscence to Drs. Jabrohim, M.M., as a lecturer of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) study program and Head of Community Service Organization (LPM) UAD who officially retired as a civil servant in 2017.

The launching ceremonies and literary gatherings to commemorate Jabrohim's retirement were held at the Tjokro Style Hotel on Monday (25/12/2017). Scholars and practitioners in the fields of art, literature, and culture presented at this event. The event was sponsored by the Forum of Literature Appreciation of PBSI UAD and the Society of Poetics Indonesia.

Prof. Suminto A. Sayuti, a prrofessor at one of top universities in Yogyakarta and Drs. Tirto Suwondo, the Head of Central Java Language Center were also present as the speakers. They and Jabrohim strived together to revive literature when UAD was still called IKIP Muhammadiyah.

"I still remember very well how UAD used to be a place where famous Indonesian literary figures, such as WS. Rendra, Sutardji Calzoum Bachri, Abdul Hadi WM, Emha Ainun Nadjib, and others gathered in Campus 2 UAD," Suminto explained when talking about UAD.

In line with Suminto, Tirto Suwondo who is an alumnus of UAD conveyed that with the spirit of Jabrohim at that time, almost all the great writers of Indonesia often held a gathering in the campus on Jln. Pramuka 42.

"In addition to being a meeting place, with his high spirit, Jabrohim can guide young UAD students into talented writers. His contribution in the fields of art and culture should be given appreciation," said Tirto

 Although Jabrohim has retired, he declared that he would continue to be active in the fields of art and culture, especially at LSBO PP Muhammadiyah. (ard)

KAUMAN: Kuliah Umum Kemuhammadiyahan (Public Lectures of Muhammadiyah)

Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of Student Executive Board (BEM) of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) held Public Lecture Kemuhammadiyahan (KAUMAN) on Monday, December 25, 2017. Located at the auditorium of Campus 1 UAD on Jalan Kapas, the event raise the theme of  "Muhammadiyah's Role in Building the Character and Identity of Indonesia". Guided by Rio Pamungkas, S.Pd., an alumnus of Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) study program and a former UAD Student President, this public lecture presented Ustadz Drs. H. Anhar Anshori, M.Si., Ph.D as the speaker.

               Attended by 200 students, the public lecture began with the reading of kalam ilahi and was continued by singing the national anthem of Indonesia Raya, Mars song of Muhammadiyah, and Mars song of UAD. Ade Khrisna Ardyatama, in his speech as the chairman of the committee expressed his gratitude for the event which was well-executed. He also advised the participants to follow the public lecture well, to absorb the knowledge given, and not to hesitate to ask.

               "The purpose of this event is to know more deeply about what Muhammadiyah is like and what kind of Muhammadiyah movement exists among students. It is because we certainly realize that many students who are studying at UAD, unfortunately, do not know what Muhammadiyah is, let alone try to explore it. ADRC 2017 Invited Students All Over Indonesia

Ahmad Dahlan Robotic Competition (ADRC) was held again at the end of 2017. The competition that has been routinely held for the last 6 years was joined by students from various parts of Indonesia. The main headline of this event was "Developing Potentials of Young Generation in the Field of Robotics".

Taking place in Basiyo Building of XT Square on Wednesday (27/12/2017), 122 teams took part in the event and were divided into 2 categories. The category of line follower robot was joined by 75 teams, while the sumo robot was joined by 47 teams. The participants of the event were students of elementary, junior, and senior high school who were willing to compete for trophies from the governor, mayor, and UAD.

Dr. Abdul Fadlil, M.T., Vice Rector III, in his speech at the opening ceremony said that ADRC could provide positive benefits for millennial generation. Representing Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), he highly appreciated the organization of this robot contest.

"This event is a pride. Sustainability is very important. Thank you for the hard work and innovation of the committee and all those who have supported this event, especially all the participants. "

Each year, there is an increase in the number of the participants of the competition. ADRC becomes a place to share knowledge and experience related to robotics field. In the future, technology will be more advanced and sophisticated. Progress will only be realized if the younger generation is introduced with technology from an early age. The love for technology has to be increased steadily, complemented with new creations and innovations.

"Devices made with technological innovation will not prosper humanity if humans do not master the technology. Indonesia must be independent in technology. Hopefully, the participants can be the successor and role model who will become the future leader of the nation," said Fadlil.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI), Endah Sulistiawati, S.T., M.T., said that for the first time ADRC 2017 synergized with "Technology Days" which was a celebration for the anniversary of FTI. She was very supportive of this activity. She hoped the participants can show all their potentials in the competition by upholding the values ​​of sportsmanship. (ard)

UAD Library Reviewed Adicerita Hamka’s Book

In collaboration with the Tabligh Assembly and the Library and Information Assembly of Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PWM) Yogyakarta, Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) library held a book discussion on Adicerita Hamka’s book. This book was written by a Western writer, James R. Rush.

The book review which was entitled "Adicerita Hamka: Islamic Vision of the Great Writer for Modern Indonesia" was held on Thursday (28/12/2017), in the hall of Islamic Center of Campus 4, UAD on Jln. Ringroad Selatan, Tamanan, Bantul. The event presented Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Syafi'ie Ma'arif, Prof. Dr. Yinahar Ilyas, Lc., M.Ag., And Nasir Tamara, Ph.D. as the speakers.

In his opening speech, Ahmad Muhadjir, Lc.M.A., representing the Chief of PWM DIY conveyed his message on the benefits of discussion as one means of da’wah. Another thing that was equally important was to provide an example to the community related to figures to look up to, like a Buya Hamka.

 In the discussion session, according to Syafi'ie Ma'arif, Hamka was an expert and successful in writing history using psychological approaches, especially on literature. "He is a free thinker and has a remarkable memory. Hamka learns from anyone and always tries to improve his knowledge," he explained.

On this occasion, Syafi'ie also mentioned that UAD needed to do more workshops and open discussions of this kind. According to him, the discussion will give insight and provide new views on a specific topic. He pointed out that at least we should live like Hamka. Although he was hated initially, the people who hated him finally recognized his talent.

"Being wild is important, especially in terms of thinking and writing. Hamka makes his haters respect him through his writings," said Shafi'ie.

Meanwhile, Yunahar Ilyas gave a slightly different view. From his view, Buya Hamka was a remarkable figure. "He is naughty, but he could be a great scholar and writer. Let's reflect on that."(Ard)
