UAD Scout Held RSC 2018

For the first time, Scout Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) held a competition on Kwartir Level of Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) entitled "Ahmad Dahlan Rover University Scout Competition 2018".

UAD RSC 2018 involved 360 participants who were the members of rover scout of Kwartir DIY. This event was held on March 24-25, 2018 at Rama Shinta Prambanan campground at Km. 16.5 Prambanan, Sleman, DIY.

UAD RSC 2018 was officially opened by Dra. Meiyun Wihadiyanti M. Pd. as the commissioner of Saka Kwartir of DIY. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of Mayor of Yogyakarta, Bantul Regent's representative, Sleman Regent's representative, Gunung Kidul Regent’s representative, and other invited guests.

The event raised the topic of "With Scout, We Preserve Culture, Realize Creative and Innovative Generation ". There were 8 types of competitions that covered some fields, including scout, education, and culture. UAD RSC 2018 involved 36 teams from 20 groups based at senior high schools in DIY. A Mayor Cup and a total prize of 1 million rupiah from UAD were won by SMA Negeri 2 Playen, Gunung Kidul as the champion of UAD RSC 2018, DIY. (ard / doc)

UAD Students Presented their Research in Japan

Ricka Tanzilla, an Ahmad Dahlan University student (UAD) had the opportunity to present her research results at Communicating Astronomy with the Public (CAP) 2018 event, which was held at Fukuoka City Science Museum of Japan (24-28/ 3/2018).

The research, entitled "Challenges and Strategies for Developing Inclusive Outreach Using Buku Mentari Project," was initiated by a team consisting of Ricka Tanzilla, Ratnawati, Putri Hasanah, and Titi Muyassaroh, with a companion lecturer, Yudhiakto Pramudya, Ph.D.
The team received a grant from Student Creativity Program (PKM) held by the Directorate General of Higher Education in 2016. They developed an astronomy learning book for students with special needs (blind people). The book is called Mencerap Tata Surya dengan Gambar Taktil Buatan Sendiri (Observing the Solar System with Self-Made Tactile Images) or Mentari as an educational medium for inclusive astronomy.
CAP is a conference held by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). IAU has more than 10,000 active members from 98 countries around the world who have a mission of promoting and developing astronomy in all aspects through international cooperation.
 
Since 2003, CAP conference has facilitated successful exchange of ideas and activities in the field of astronomy. This conference helps strengthen the community of professional astronomers in each country by connecting them to international research networks. CAP in Japan becomes an opportunity for professional and amateur astronomers to meet and discuss astronomy.
 
Japan itself has National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), a leading astronomical research organization. On the other hand, the city of Fuokoka is an area with historical connections to science and astronomy. NAOJ and IAU work together to bring the international education and astronomy community to Japan. It is intended that international astronomers can directly see the latest developments in Japan and Asia's progress in astronomical communications.
 
There are 400 participants from all over the world who attend this activity. CAP 2018 provides grants for the 12 best presenters and posters, with a total grant of 100,000 yen for each awardee. One of the best presenters is Ricka and her team.
 
Ricka expressed her wish that astronomy could be known and understood the general public with diverse backgrounds regardless of education, age and gender, including the disabled.
 
"Hopefully the science communicator can give insight to astronomy, not only to science circles, but also by the general public regardless of educational background, age, gender, and also for disabled people," explained Ricka as quoted in a press release on Wednesday (28/3/2018).
Ricka claimed that she was more excited to continue communicating astronomy to the public and certainly happy to learn directly from professional astronomers in the field of Public Outreach. In addition to Ricka, there were several Indonesian representative participants, among them were from ITB, LAPAN, UGM, Planetarium, and Jakarta Observatory. (ard/ doc)

Tim Badminton UAD Juara 2 Liga Mahasiswa

Tim Putra dan Putri Badminton Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) masing-masing berhasil meraih juara 2 pada nomor beregu Liga Mahasiswa (Lima) Badminton: Kaskus Central Java and Special Region of Yogyakarta Conference (CJYC). Ajang Lima Badminton ini diselenggarakan 11-16 April 2018 di Grha Instiper.

Prestasi ini bisa dikatakan meningkat, setelah pada tahun sebelumnya UAD hanya menduduki peringkat 3. Meskipun tidak memiliki fakultas maupun program studi bidang keolahragaan, prestasi mahasiswa di bidang badminton ini menunjukkan bahwa UAD memiliki atlet olahraga yang hebat.

Dari penjelasan Amri Rais, Ketua Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM) Badminton UAD, sejauh ini persiapan yang telah dilakukan sampai tim mengukir prestasi yakni dengan menambah jam latihan dan komunikasi intens.

“Target awal adalah semifinal, tetapi alhamdulillah kami berhasil menjadi juara 2. Ini melebihi target. Kami memiliki harapan agar Badminton UAD dapat berbicara banyak di kancah regional, nasional, maupun internasional. Dengan kemenangan ini, kami juga memastikan tim beregu putra berhak masuk ke Lima tingkat nasional,” ungkap Amri.

Sementara, di balik kemenangan tersebut, ia merasa ada kendala yang masih harus dibenahi. Misalnya terkait dengan transportasi, selama perlombaan tim berangkat sendiri-sendiri menggunakan kendaraan (motor) pribadi. Ia berharap pihak universitas dapat memberi fasilitas transportasi menggunakan kendaraan yang lebih memadahi untuk mengurangi risiko-risiko yang bisa mencederai pemain.

Selain itu, untuk memaksimalkan potensi, ia menginginkan ada pembenahan basecamp. Selama ini basecamp badminton tidak tersentuh jaringan internet dan sering banjir karena lokasinya di basement ITC. Menurutnya, jaringan internet dapat dimanfaatkan untuk menambah jam terbang tim dengan melihat video permainan atlet badminton internasional.

Sementara pelatih Badminton UAD, M. Haqqiy Ady Saputra mengatakan, permainan anak asuhnya sangat luar biasa dan di luar ekspektasi. Hasil yang diperoleh ini merupakan buah dari kebersamaan, mental, komunikasi, juga dukungan suporter. (ard)

Temu Akbar Alumni Pascasarjana UAD

Program Pascasarjana Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) menyelenggarakaan temu akbar alumni dengan rangkaian kegiatan kongres, seminar nasional, dan workshop. Acara yang berlangsung Sabtu (14/4/2018) di aula barat gedung baru UAD kampus 4, Jln. Ringroad Selatan, Tamanan, Bantul, Yogyakarta, dihadiri 140-an alumni dari berbagai wilayah di Indonesia.

Pada kesempatan ini ada penyerahan bantuan buku oleh alumni, dan kongres pemilihan pengurus Himpunan Alumni Program Pascasarjana Ahmad Dahlan (Hapsada). Selain itu, ada seminar nasional dengan tajuk “Meningkatkan Peran Alumni Pascasarjana UAD Berbasis Keunggulan Prodi”, serta workshop penulisan karya ilmiah bereputasi internasional.

Saat memberi sambutan sekaligus membuka acara, Wakil Rektor I UAD, Dr. Muchlas, M.T. menyampaikan, UAD merupakan urban university. Sesuai dengan amanat dari founding fathers, UAD merupakan universitas perkotaan.

“Saat ini UAD memiliki kampus utama dan kampus satelit,” ujar Muchlas berkelakar.

Ia memiliki harapan para alumni dapat berkontribusi dalam mengembangkan UAD menjadi perguruan tinggi yang maju dan dipercaya oleh masyarakat. Muchlas menilai, alumni memiliki peran penting dalam membangun kepercayaan stakeholder eksternal.

“Pertemuan alumni bukan sekadar nostalgia dan seremoni. Tetapi dengan pertemuan ini harus mendapat sesuatu yang dahsyat untuk merumuskan strategi dalam membangun masyarakat, almamater, dan tempat kerja para alumni,” tandasnya.

Sementara Direktur Pascasarjana UAD, Prof. Dr. Achmad Mursyidi, M.Sc., Apt. mengharapkan dengan kegiatan ini ada hubungan baik antara universitas dan alumni.

“Tidak mungkin masing-masing berdiri sendiri, harus bekerja sama. Kedua elemen ini harus saling membesarkan agar tercapai sebuah kemajuan dan kepercayaan,” ungkap Mursyidi. (ard)

Mahasiswa UAD Juara 2 Mawapres Kopertis V

Ika Suciwati, mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (PBI) Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) berhasil menjadi juara 2 Mahasiswa Berprestasi (Mawapres) tingkat Koordinator Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (Kopertis) wilayah V Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY).

Ajang pemilihan Mawapres tersebut diselenggarakan di Kantor Kopertis V DIY, Jln. Tentara Pelajar No. 13, Yogyakarta, Kamis (5/4/2018). Pada seleksi ini, Ika mengungguli kandidat dari beberapa perguruan tinggi swasta lain seperti UTY, Atma Jaya, Alma Ata, dan UMY.

“Penilaian tertinggi terletak pada prestasi. Setidaknya ada sekitar 15 prestasi yang berhasil saya raih dalam kurun waktu satu tahun terakhir,” terang perempuan dari Kananga, Bima, Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) ini.

Prestasi yang pernah diraih antara lain Best Paper Asean Youth Cultural Exposure 2017 (Bangkok-Thailand), Best Idea Asean International Summit 2017 (Malaysia), Juri Lomba Debat Ilmu Pemerintahan yang diselenggarakan UGM, Grand Finalist of the 2018 Asian English Olympics (Jakarta), TOP 3 Best Novice Speaker of the 2018 Asian English Olympics (Jakarta), Juri Kompetisi Antar Bangsa (SMAN 8 Yogyakarta), Juri International Competition (SMAN 7 Yogyakarta), Best Team of Asean International Summit 2017 (Malaysia), The Youngest Presenter of 9th International Conference on Language, Innovation, Culture and Education 2018 (Thailand).

Berbekal latar belakang seorang debater, mahasiswi semester 6 ini langsung tancap gas mempersiapkan diri untuk mengikuti kompetisi National University Debating Championship (NUDC) dan Mawapres tingkat nasional.

“Alhamdulillah, kemenangan ini berkat dukungan dari berbagai pihak. Kuncinya sabar dan menjalani proses dengan maksimal. Saya bersyukur atas kemenangan ini. Tetapi, ke depan masih ada berbagai ajang yang harus saya ikuti, jadi tidak perlu lama-lama larut dalam euforia kemenangan,” tandasnya.

Prestasi Ika Suciwati menjadi sejarah bagi UAD, khususnya Program Studi PBI. Pasalnya, tiga tahun berturut-turut mahasiswa dari program studi ini mewakili UAD dalam ajang Mawapres di Kopertis V. Dua finalis yang berhasil menjuarai ajang ini adalah Lidya Tarmidzani Putri (juara II Mawapres Kopertis V DIY 2017) dan Iqwan Sanjani (juara III Mawapres Kopertis V DIY, finalis 15 besar Mawapres Nasional 2016). Kemenristekdikti dan UAD Selenggarakan Pelatihan Verifikator Sinta

Direktorat Riset dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi (Kemenristekdikti) bekerja sama dengan Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) akan menyelenggarakan pelatihan verifikator Sistem Indeksasi dan Sitasi (Sinta). Kegiatan tersebut akan dilangsungkan 17-18 April 2018 di Hotel Grand Dafam Rohan Jogja, Jl. Janti-Gedong Kuning, Banguntapan, Bantul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY). Peserta pelatihan berjumlah seratus orang, terdiri atas perwakilan perguruan tinggi dan kopertis.

Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk melakukan penyamaan persepsi terkait fitur dan fasilitas yang akan diberikan oleh pelatih kepada verifikator. Kemudian juga untuk memberikan panduan, petunjuk teknis, dan pemecahan masalah dalam proses verifikasi data dosen dan lembaga di perguruan tinggi masing-masing. Terakhir, sebagai pembinaan terhadap verifikator di perguruan tinggi sehingga kualitas data yang ada di Sinta terjaga dengan baik.

Direktorat Jenderal Riset Teknologi dan Pengembangan meluncurkan Sinta sebagai sistem yang dapat digunakan oleh penentu kebijakan dalam melakukan evaluasi kinerja dosen. Selain itu juga dapat dijadikan sebagai rujukan bagi dosen serta peneliti untuk melihat jurnal yang direkomendasi oleh Kemenristekdikti.

Sinta versi 2.0 yang di-launching pada Jumat (4/8/2017) memiliki tampilan baru dan konten dari penulis sebanyak 30.000 dosen serta 959 jurnal. Pada Januari 2018, penulis yang sudah terdaftar ke Sinta lebih dari 80.000. Untuk mengimplementasikan Sinta agar berjalan optimal, maka diperlukan kegiatan verifikasi data yang akan mengatur mekanisme pengumpulan data, serta menjamin data yang masuk valid dan sesuai dengan kinerja masing-masing penulis.

Oleh karenanya, pada 2018 ini verifikasi Sinta yang semula dilakukan terpusat, akan didelegasikan ke perguruan tinggi untuk memudahkan dan mempercepat proses verifikasi. Sebagai bagian proses dari pendelegasian proses verifikasi, maka diperlukan pelatihan untuk pelatih verifikator dan verifikator Sinta.

Akan hadir sebagai narasumber Son Ali (UAD), Sam Farisa Chaerul Havian (UNISSULA), Dr. Kasiyarno, M.Hum. (Rektor UAD), Tole Sutikno, Ph.D. (Kepala LPPI UAD), Ira Nurhayati Djarot (Direktur Sistem Riset dan Pengembangan), dan Sjaeful Irwan (Subdit. Sistem Informasi Riset dan Pengembangan).

Harapannya, pelatihan ini bermanfaat untuk mengevaluasi kinerja dosen dan perguruan tinggi secara efektif dan efisien, dalam rangka meningkatkan jumlah dan mutu penelitian dosen sebagai wujud dari penyelenggaraan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. (doc)

Dosen UAD Ungkap Pentingnya Kedaulatan Obat-Obatan di Indonesia

Pada suatu kesempatan saat berkunjung ke kantor redaksi salah satu media cetak di Yogyakarta, Dr. Kintoko, M.Sc.,Apt., dosen Fakultas Farmasi Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) menjelaskan mengenai obat-obatan di Indonesia.

Ketua Departemen Riset dan Pemberdayaan Ummat dari Healthcare Professionals for Sharia (Help-S) ini mengungkapkan, berdasar kajian dan penelitian, sekitar 60 persen pasar obat Indonesia dikuasai produk dari Tiongkok. Selebihnya menjadi rebutan antara India, Amerika, dan sejumlah negara lain. Menurutnya, kontribusi dari dalam negeri masih sangat kecil, meski Indonesia sebetulnya memiliki sumber daya alam yang melimpah.

Berbekal potensi kekayaan sumber daya alam yang luar biasa besarnya, sudah semestinya Indonesia mampu memenuhi kebutuhan obat-obatan secara mandiri. Hal tersebut sangat penting dilakukan, mengingat sejauh ini sekitar 96 persen bahan aktif obat di Indonesia masih dipasok dari luar negeri.

“Sudah waktunya Indonesia memiliki kedaulatan dalam obat-obatan. Menurut data, dalam setahun Indonesia harus mengeluarkan anggaran 11 triliun rupiah hanya untuk impor bahan baku obat-obatan,” jelas Kintoko.

Ia menambahkan, menurut Kementerian Perindustrian, Indonesia surplus bahan baku aktif obat yang diperoleh dari industri migas. Indonesia juga memiliki 37.000 jenis tanaman obat dan 350.000 ramuan tradisional yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk mendukung ketahanan dan kedaulatan obat.

Menyikapi hal tersebut, Kintoko menyoroti pembangunan industri obat-obatan nasional guna menuju kedaulatan obat.

“Indonesia belum memiliki kebijakan tegas dan pasti. Bahan baku dan obat dari luar negeri masih dapat dengan mudah masuk ke Indonesia. Sementara ketika ingin memproduksi obat-obatan sendiri yang sebenarnya memiliki kualitas lebih bagus, terkendala biaya produksi yang tinggi sehingga berpengaruh pada harga jual di masyarakat,” tandasnya.

Mengingat betapa pentingya obat, Kintoko akan menjadi salah satu narasumber pada seminar bertajuk “Indonesia Sehat dalam Rahmat dan Lindungan Allah, Kedaulatan Obat Indonesia”. Seminar ini akan dilangsungkan Sabtu (14/4/2018) di Rumah Sakit Pratama, Jln. Kolonel Sugiono No. 98, Karanganyar, Mergangsan, Yogyakarta.

“Seminar yang akan diadakan ini sebagai solusi. Minimal pemerintah mengetahui potensi yang dimiliki Indonesia di bidang obat-obatan, sehingga dapat menjadi pedoman mengambil kebijakan menyangkut kedaulatan obat nasional,” pungkasnya. (doc)

Groundbreaking Event to Mark the Faculty of Medicine Buildings Construction

Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Menristekdikti), Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D., Ak., led the groundbreaking event for the construction of the Faculty of Medicine buildings of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) on Thursday (22/3). The ceremony was marked by the laying of the first stone done by the Minister of Research and Technology Dikti RI, which was followed by the Chairman of the Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir, M.Si., UAD Rector Kasiyarno, M.Hum., the Head of BPH UAD Prof. Dr. Yunahar Ilyas, Lc., M.Ag., Head of PP Muhammadiyah Diktilitbang PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Lincolin Arsyad, and the Chairman of PP 'Aisyiyah Siti Noordjanah Djohantini.

In his speech, UAD Rector said that the Faculty of Medicine buildings were going to be built in a specific way. The construction of the buildings will occupy a land of about 7000 m2 and will be a 7 floors high. The construction process will approximately take 6 months. In addition, an integrated laboratory of ​​21,000 m2 will also be built.

"Unlike the other faculties, UAD Medical Faculty buildings will not be combined with others. The construction of these two buildings requires a budget of about 340 billion rupiah. The high budget is due to specifications required to construct the buildings," said Kasiyarno.

UAD cooperates with PT PP (Pembangunan Perumahan) in the building construction in campus 4. The construction process applies the 24 hours-working-without-stopping system.

On the occasion, Kasiyarno also said that UAD as the implementer of higher education will support Kemenristekdikti programs. This support is one of UAD's commitments to help advance education in Indonesia.

At the end of his speech, he asked the leaders’ and stakeholders’ prayers in order for the construction of UAD lecture buildings to work well and rapidly, so that the society could directly feel its benefits. (ard)

UAD Officially Introduces Faculty of Medicine

At the west hall of campus 4 of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) on Thursday (22/3), Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Republic of Indonesia (Menristekdikti RI). H. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D., Ak., formally submitted the Deed of Establishment of Faculty of Medicine.

The Deed of Establishment was submitted to the Chairman of the Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir, M.Si., which was then forwarded to UAD Rector Kasiyarno, M.Hum. Thus, UAD can officially manage Medical Education study program (undergraduate and professional program).

Responding to this, Kasiyarno stated that UAD would soon prepare new students for the Faculty of Medicine.

"We will provide the needs for human resources, adequate facilities, and infrastructure. This is what also we said during the field evaluation last December," he explained.

On the occasion, Haedar Nashir explained that, with UAD, currently there were 11 Muhammdiyah Universities (PTM) with Faculty of Medicine.

"PTM must progress, not only in terms of physical aspect, but also in all aspects in order to support prosperity for the nation."

On the other hand, Menristekdikti advised that UAD continue improving to face the industrial revolution and competition with foreign universities. According to him, to win the competition, UAD had to maintain and increase public trust.

"UAD must have a strategy to win the competition. Management of universities cannot be implemented without plan. There should be at least smart work, hard work, and sincerity," he said. (ard)

UAD Campus 4 Equipped with Fantastic Facilities

Ahmad Dahlan University (UAD) has completed the construction of Kampus 4 on Jln. Ringroad Selatan, Tamanan, Bantul. The building which is built on a 7-hectare land with 33,406 sqm of building area provides 4350 seats for student lecture comprising 14 rooms with a capacity of 30 seats, 64 rooms with a capacity of 60 seats and 1 room with a capacity of 90 seats. The 11-story building is also equipped with stairs, escalators and elevators for easy mobility.

Currently, kampus 4 of UAD has been used for lectures for Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Faculty of Islamic Studies (FAI), and Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). In the next odd semester, Faculty of Industrial Engineering (FTI) and Faculty of Law (FH) will also join to conduct lectures in the new building.

UAD's main campus is not only functioned as a place for conducting lectures, since the general public can also come inside and visit the buildings, such as UAD Islamic Center Mosque which is now one of the icon of Yogyakarta and the many places that can be used as a place to take a break for tourists. In addition, on the east side of the mosque will also be built a Muhammadiyah museum.

This smart and green building building also provides observatory facilities for research, hisab verification for Tarjih Assembly of Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah, Research Center of Alutsista Defense, exhibition space, observation, gallery, and a cafe which is located at roof top.

The concept of smart building is designed for efficiency in energy use, water savings, health protection, increased productivity, and waste reduction which are embodied in environmentally friendly building facilities. The presence of fins outside the building helps air circulation in the room. Rain water that enters the storage pond is sent to ground water tank so that it can be redistributed.

For green building concept, there will be a city forest park in the middle of the main area to support the go-green program while maintaining the balance of nature. This campus can also be a place for an educational tour, i. e. campus tour that provides amphitheater, planetarium, and observatory place equipped with advanced telescopes to give insight into the field of astronomy.

Vice Rector II, Drs. Safar Nasir, M.Si., said that this building, which costs more than 370 billion rupiah, would be UAD's pride. In addition, although the construction of campus 4 building has been completed, the buildings quality on other campuses will also keep being improved. (ard)
